Our Essence
Founded in January 2020, New Talent For the Best Future is a refugee-led organization supporting vulnerable children, and youth in the Nakivale settlement to grow their talents and rebuild hope.
Education
We expand acces to learning for vulnerable children through early education, English support and pathways into formal schooling.
Empowerment
We equip youth and women with life skills, leadership and vocational training to build confidence and self-reliance
Creativity
Through art, sport, and storytelling, we nurture talent, healing, teamwork, and positive self-expression for children
Peace & Inclusion
We foster reconciliation, unity, and belonging by creating safe spaces that value diversity and community collaboration among children.
The challenge in Nakivale
Nakivale Refugee Settlement is one of the oldest refugee camps in Uganda; it hosts over 180,000 refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Somalia, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Eritrea, making it the most crowded camp in Uganda.
- Education Crisis
- Learning barriers
- Child vulnerability
- Poverty anf gender inequality
What we do
We run community-based, talent-driven programs that close education gaps while nurturing creativity, healing, and self-resilience.

Education Access
Free, talent-led classes to 200 vulnerable children aged 6-16, including new arrivals, orphans and school dropouts. We offer a structured early-learning and English language program.

Community Library
We are constructing a library from recycled plastic bottles, stocked with 900+ books, offering a quiet space for reading, learning and group discussions.

Storytelling & Peace Building
Utilizing trauma-informed peer storytelling to foster healing, reconciliation and community unity among refugee children and youth.
Who We Serve
Nakivale remains a place where vulnerable children and youth meet barriers such as lack of resources, fees, language barriers, poverty and discrimination, preventing them from accessing quality education and realizing their full potential for resilience.
Orphans and abandoned children.
Orphan and abandoned children who lack parental care and basic needs. We provide a nurturing environment with education, nutrition, and emotional support to help them thrive.
Newly arrived refugees.
Recently displaced families adjusting to life in the settlement. We help them integrate through orientation, community connections, and access to essential services and programs.
Out-of-school youth.
Young refugees who have dropped out or never attended school due to displacement. We offer vocational training, literacy programs, and skills development to create pathways to self-reliance.
Our Partners and Supporters
Our work is strengthened by partners and individuals who believe in community led solutions. Through shared trust and cooperation, they support programs that help children and youth access learning, skills, and safe spaces. Every partnership helps us reach further and do the work better.
The Beginning of Change
This marks the moment when young people chose to respond to hardship instead of accepting it. It reflects a shift from silence to action, and from surviving each day to building something that supports children and youth over time.

Young people in Nakivale met informally to talk about trauma, hunger, and life in the camp. These honest talks created trust and a safe space for sharing real experiences.

The conversations grew into regular gatherings where children and youth met to share stories, support each other, and feel less alone in their struggles.

On January 25th, 2020, the group formally became New Talent for the Best Future, turning shared stories into structured programs focused on education, skills, and wellbeing.
Testimonials
Stories that Inspire
Hear from the children, women, and families whose lives have been transformed through our programs.
"Before joining NTBF, I couldn't speak English and had no hope for school. Now I can read, write, and dream of becoming a teacher. This place gave me a family when I had lost mine."
"The tailoring program changed my life. I can now support my three children and even help other women in my community. NTBF didn't just teach me skills—they gave me dignity."
"My son was traumatized when we arrived. Through the sports and storytelling programs, he's found joy again. He laughs now. That's the greatest gift any mother could ask for."
Together, We Can Change Lives
Only 4.8% of orphans and abandoned children attend our programs. With your help, we can reach more vulnerable children and give them hope.
